As Walmart’s website underwent changes, there was an ask to make the content center, known as ‘Tips & Ideas’ a bit more efficient so it could be updated more frequently and with less fuss.
I was tasked with creating the UX/UI for the new content section of the website as it had to accommodate a multitude of media and story-types whilst still being responsive for different screen-sizes.
The concept was to have versatility in the types of modules across the page that would allow for the most number of combinations for the content team.
Working with the dev and content teams as well as creative leadership resulted in a clean, elevated look for the new Tips & Ideas section. This gave more freedom and flexibility to the content writers and higher engagement with customers on this new portion of Walmart.com.
Tips & Ideas: Article pages
While working on the content section of Walmart.com known as Tips & Ideas, I was asked to create the UX for the article pages that customers would see whilst exploring the site.
These pages were a challenge because of the number of conditions that needed to be met for them to work. For instance, they had to be responsive but also accommodate a ‘right-hand rail’ style content bar for additional browsing. On smaller screen sizes, this right-hand rail had to move to the bottom but still accommodate the different types of modules that the team needed to serve up the right kind of content.
There were also many moving parts to the project as the needs of business and marketing teams also needed to be accommodated in addition to the content and creative requirements within what the dev team could deliver in the timeframe for this project. Ultimately achieving the final result was a rewarding experience and everyone lived happily ever after.
Till the next project.
JK, but not really.
Gift Guide UX/UI
The holiday season is the the busiest for retail, especially a company like Walmart. Every year, a holiday gift guide is created for the website which features the best that Walmart.com has to offer.
For the year 2017, I was tasked with creating a more robust and engaging experience than previous years. The lifestyle-themed gift guide was meant to showcase a wide range of products that would help shoppers with gifts for their loved ones.
I created the responsive UX as well as the wireframes for the project while still maintaining a spirit of excitement across all screen sizes. More details about the project can be found here.
