James Bond posters

This is part of an unofficial poster series I created for the most recent James Bond films starring Daniel Craig. I wanted to have a uniformity to the posters while also making sure the elements within each poster were tied to their respective films. Specifically, I wanted to create these as a series so that should one want to hang up all of them in a row, it would look stunning as a set. I used Adobe Illustrator to create each poster from scratch.

Casino Royale

The concept behind this piece of art was to highlight a fantastic line from the movie where, Eva Green’s character ‘Vesper’ says to Bond: “I suppose you’ve given some thought to the notion that if you lose, our government would have directly financed terrorism.” The backdrop of the British flag behind Bond shows a bold patriotism that he has for his country, but the details of the flag show a playful and luxe texture which is at odds with the seriousness of his mission. That paradox is what makes the movie great and is what I’ve captured here.

Quantum of Solace

Isolation was the central theme for this film and, fittingly, for this piece as well. Bond doesn’t look his usual polished self and that’s the point. His inner state of mind is shown externally and there’s nothing else in the frame with him. Not a soul in sight and nothing but the harsh and punishing desert behind him. He’s tortured by the loss of ‘Vesper’ and searches for revenge, no matter the cost.

Skyfall

For this poster, I wanted to showcase the chaos that this movie exemplified and presented so beautifully by referencing some of the key points in the film– from when they isolate the stolen hard drive to M’s office, to the security breach when Mr. Silver escapes from MI6 in London, to the false trail that ‘Q’ creates for Silver to follow Bond. Having these elements as the backdrop behind Bond in the art seemed to be the perfect way to tie in different aspects of the movie and showcase it in a single frame.

Spectre

Many would agree that one of the most memorable and iconic scenes in James Bond lore would be the ‘Day of the Dead’ parade in Mexico City as the opening scene in ‘Spectre’. Much more sinister was the organization that Bond was going up against, which is what I wanted to capture with this piece. The emblem for the organization is a black octopus, also used as a motif in the film. I wanted to showcase Bond being surrounded by the tentacles of a large and terrifying creature that was about to wrap around him and squeeze, but Bond’s expression is calm and unknowing– drawing parallels with what happens in the film.
